English sterling silver covered entree dishes pair by John Edwards III, with a full set of London Hallmarks for 1801. Each of these matching shaped rectangular covered dishes has a removable handle, applied Gadroon decorations on the base and lid and a nicely engraved Rampant Lion holding a wreath crest on each lid and base. The bases, lids and handles are all properly Hallmarked. Weighing a total of 2917 grams or 93.8 ozs. Troy, each dish is 10" long, 8 1/2" wide and, with the handle in place, 4 1/2" tall. Crested as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
